Are you an asylum seeker or do you have a residence permit, and would you like to work in the Netherlands? In many cases, you can, even if you still live in an asylum reception centre (AZC).

Working as an asylum seeker
If you have applied for asylum in the Netherlands but have not yet received a residence permit, you are an asylum seeker.
You can work if you meet certain conditions. For example, your employer must have a work permit (TWV).
Working with a residence permit
If you have a residence permit, you are a refugee with a residence permit.
You are allowed to work in the Netherlands. You have the same rights and responsibilities as other people who are allowed to work here.
You can:
- work for an employer
- become self-employed
- do a work experience placement
- do an internship
- work as a volunteer
